She teaches, helps, supports, comforts and encourages. She listens and always has an open ear. And she accompanies us through good times as well as challenging times. We´re talking about mom. Incidentally, in many families she is the main person responsible for raising children or running the household. In many cases, without them, everything is nothing. And with her everything is even more beautiful. It is therefore only logical that Mother's Day is held in her honor. But in a world where we can buy anything we want at any time, finding the right gift is becoming increasingly difficult. In exactly this world, however, another good is becoming more and more important on the other side: time together. And that is exactly what most mothers prefer to get as a gift anyway. But what activities are there for Mother's Day? We've collected a few ideas.
First of all, every mother is different. And while some have a real adventurer mum, other mums prefer to take it easy. So think carefully in advance about what might suit your mom, talk it over with the rest of the family, or anticipate a bit by subtly introducing the topic in question into conversations. And then we can get started - for example with one of the following activities for Mother's Day:
Brunch: The absolute classic is a cozy brunch at home. While mum can sleep in, everyone involved takes care of coffee, pastries, spreads, etc. Once everything is ready, you can feast to your heart's content. By the way: The Mother's Day brunch does not necessarily have to take place in your own four walls - many restaurants also have this in their repertoire. Or you move it to the garden.
Reading morning: Many mothers appreciate time to themselves. So take care of the housework for your mother or prepare the food while she can relax - for example at her favorite spot in the garden. Our hammocks or hammock chairs are an excellent match. Together with a good book or a playlist, the hustle and bustle of everyday life quickly takes off in this scenario.
Hiking: Being active together in the fresh air is healthy and strengthens the feeling of togetherness. At the same time, there is time for in-depth discussions. So how about a summit hike or a walk to a viewpoint? Early risers dare a sunrise hike or you can combine the excursion with a stop at your favorite inn. Of course you can also swing on a mountain bike or do a yoga session together.
Garden day: Do you have a mom with a green thumb? Then spend the day in the garden. Help her with gardening, plant new flowers or redecorate some corners. As a reward, there's coffee and cake among all the soothing greenery.
Concert: Another idea for a Mother's Day activity is going to a concert. It doesn't matter whether it's a contemporary band or a singer your mum adored when she was young - events like this create a bond. Maybe you combine the whole thing with a shopping tour to have the right outfit ready.
Spa day: Wellness is always possible, isn't it? Especially when everyday life is already very challenging. So invite your mother to a wellness day in a thermal bath or a hotel, or you can treat yourself to a beauty treatment together. The stress rolls off all by itself and, incidentally, there is plenty of time to talk and laugh.
Movie night: Be honest – when was the last time you took time out to watch a movie with your mom? Is there a blockbuster that takes you back to yesteryear and you can watch on the couch? Or you browse through the cinema program.
Creative day: Creating new things together can be incredibly rewarding. Some mothers are therefore happy when you paint new pictures for the living room together, conjure up decorations from natural materials or attend a porcelain course.
Wine tasting: If you have a wine-loving mum, you can organize a wine tasting. Maybe there are up-and-coming winegrowers in the vicinity who lure you in with their creations, or you can take a trip to a special wine-growing region and let yourself be carried away into the world of wine.
Balloon ride: The next idea for an extraordinary Mother's Day activity is only for die-hards: With a balloon ride you can see your hometown from a different perspective or you can float over to another city.
Short trip: If you trust your own mother to be spontaneous, you can organize a short trip and explore a city together over the weekend, for example, or hike to a new area.
