In the summer of 1492, Christopher Columbus set sail from the port of the Spanish city of Huelva. And discovered America. The rest is history. What does this have to do with the CHICO office? A lot, because our converted farm in Oepping, the company headquarters, could also be described as a port with a clear conscience. In this blog post, we will tell you why and what is done in the CHICO hammock office every day.
So why port? Quite simply: Our products are sent on trips from the CHICO office every day. Some travel to the city. others to the country. Still others are drawn to the top of a mountain. Or to a lake. Our CHICO hammocks and hammock chairs get to couples, singles or families. And always become an important everyday companion. Although the world has moved on since Columbus' voyages of discovery and our products are no longer transported from A to B on medieval sailing ships, it still takes a few steps and know-how to ensure that every product arrives safely at its destination. And that's exactly what Evelyne and her colleague in the CHICO office take care of. They issue the tickets, if you will, the tickets for each individual hammock. And now let's take a closer look. Let's go - cast off!
In the middle of Evelyne's and her colleague control center, who also takes care of the shopping, there is a large desk with a wide shelf. Lots of light comes in through the windows and the hills of the Oberen Mühlviertel greet you from outside. Green and soft. However, before the two take a seat there, they first take care of the sales room in the morning. There they prepare the cash register for the day ahead, turn on the printer and get all the utensils ready. Then comes all the logistical tasks that are important for the post office and forwarding agents: orders are processed, products are stacked on pallets, shipping e-mails are written, labels are printed and all other shipping documents are prepared. The forwarding company picks up the first packages at midday, and the post office picks up the rest in the afternoon. In total, Evelyne and her colleague send between 20 and 30 products on their journeys every day.
In the afternoon there is time to answer inquiries, write invoices and look after customers over the phone or in the sales room. All in all, you have to have a certain knack for organizing, be communicative and open and be good with the PC in order to be able to get to work in the CHICO hammock office. "My biggest challenges at the beginning were planning and setting out a certain daily routine and making phone calls," Evelyne agrees. It's easy for her now. "It's varied here, I think that's great," she reveals, "and it's great to be able to work in the region." By the way, she sends most of the CHICO hammocks and hammock chairs on trips just before Christmas and in the summer - then the demand is greatest.
When the work is done, she looks forward to her own CHICO hammock chair at home in St. Oswald. In a delicate pastel. "I like to relax here, read or watch a film." By the way: There is another thing in common with Christopher Columbus: the seafarer also came across hammocks for the first time on one of his voyages of discovery. But this is another story.
