Exciting, heartwarming, indescribable - all of these things characterize pregnancy. For many, this is the best time of their lives. No wonder, because it creates new life. Pregnancies are always unique, after all, every child and every mother is different. Nevertheless, pregnancy can also be stressful, because it brings with it a lot of challenges: the body changes and suddenly there are new feelings and sensitivities. To make this time as pleasant as possible, expectant mothers can and should do something good for themselves. We present a few must-haves for pregnant women.
One thing to note: Many pregnant women struggle with nausea and tiredness in the first few weeks and simply try to get through the day as best as they can. There is little room for feelings of happiness. Others, on the other hand, are relaxed from minute one and glide through the pregnancy without much effort. At this point, it should be said: All feelings are allowed and should be felt. And it is not helpful to compare yourself with others. Here are a number of helpful tools for this magical time:
Vitamins and nutrients: A balanced diet is essential for a child to develop optimally in the mother's body. And vitamins and nutrients play a significant role in this. The most important ones during pregnancy include vitamin C, vitamin B6, vitamin A, zinc, protein, vitamin B1 and niacin. Make sure you have healthy snacks to hand when you're out and about, because the next craving is sure to come. During pregnancy, the need for folic acid is also increased. Your body needs this substance for cell division and growth. So as soon as you know that you are expecting a child, you can discuss this with your doctor. Folic acid can also be good for women who are not yet pregnant but are planning to become pregnant.
Suitable maternity clothes: The belly often grows faster than expected - and suddenly your beloved jeans start to pinch. It is therefore advisable to get maternity clothes early on. Loose dresses that you can still wear after pregnancy are just as good as comfortable skirts and trousers with elastic waistbands. Comfort is the most important thing - but you can still show off your belly with pride. So add a few pretty outfits to your wardrobe for special occasions. Anything you no longer need afterwards can be sold. By the way: You can also find beautiful and practical maternity clothes in online swap meets, second-hand shops or local children's bazaars. Don't forget comfortable shoes - ideally ones that you can slip on rather than tie.
Side sleeper pillow: At some point, your belly will be so big that stomach sleepers in particular will have to get used to a new sleeping position - and that can be challenging. Many people therefore use a side sleeper pillow. This supports the belly and relieves pressure on the spine. It can also be helpful to clamp a nursing pillow between your legs so you can lean on it.
hammock: Speaking of sleep and relaxation: Hammocks, like those from our sustainable production, are also a must-have for pregnant women. The reason? The gentle swinging reminds us humans of the feeling in the womb and has a calming effect - ideal for this special time. And afterwards? The hammocks serve as a comfortable place to breastfeed.
Meditation app: Another way to relax better is meditation. It's up to you whether you try this practice on your own or join a meditation group. Meditation apps have also proven to be useful. A big advantage of meditation? A key factor in this technique is correct breathing. And if you practice it intensively during pregnancy, you may find it easier to breathe during birth.
Skin care oil: Another tool that you should take with you from the start is a rich skin care oil. If you care for your skin regularly, you are less likely to get unwanted stretch marks. You can involve your partner in the ritual of applying cream - and the baby can also get gentle belly massages. Nevertheless, it should be said at this point: stretch marks or other physical changes that come with pregnancy are nothing to be ashamed of - on the contrary: they are evidence of how strong your body is and what it is capable of. Be proud of it!
Favorite playlist: Music is fascinating because it not only awakens emotions, but can also take us from a bad mood to a cheerful one. A relaxation playlist to help you relax is just as important during pregnancy as one that gives you energy. By the way: Babies can perceive external noises from the third trimester onwards - so a music box can also be useful.
Pregnancy book: Every moment in our lives is unique, but also fleeting. That makes it all the more important to capture memories of this magical time - for example in a pregnancy book. Whether you concentrate on writing and create a kind of diary or enhance the work with snapshots and other mementos - let your creativity run wild. If you want, you can even continue this until the child's 18th birthday and have a coming of age gift that is almost unbeatable in its uniqueness.
