Hammocks are popular. And not just with people. Unfortunately, one would like to say at this point, because rodents also know that our CHICO hammocks and hammock chairs are comfortable. Mice, in particular, love things to be snuggly and often keep an eye on our products if they are not stored correctly, for example. The result: the animals tamper with them. They nibble on the hammocks or misuse them for their nest building. The good news: you can protect your hammock from mice. We will tell you how, what you should pay attention to and information on the subject of repairs.
Strong as a bear, but weak as a mouse. That's how we like to describe our CHICO hammocks and hammock chairs. Depending on the version, they lift 150 to 250 kilograms and accompany you through every stage of life. Provided you take good care of your everyday textile companion. And that includes keeping the hammock safe from mice - especially when fall is upon us and it's time to put the hammock away safely so you can enjoy it again next summer. Our answers to the most frequently asked questions from our customers and the following tips will tell you how to do it.
Close observers usually find small, black remains of the animals in the vicinity of the crime scene, if you will. Nibble spots are also possible. These look typically gnawed and frayed.
It is best to roll up your hammock or hanging chair in autumn and store your everyday companion in a cupboard over the winter. On the other hand, never store our products in a basement or attic that is not mouse-proof. The garden shed is also not suitable for storage. If you want, you can also get our practical transport bags, which also protect against dust.
Customers have also brought us hammocks for repair that were gnawed by a raven, squirrel or dormouse. If the hammock is used outdoors and stays outside for days, this must be taken into account in any case.
We can repair the hammock up to a certain size of the hole - the limit is around 20 x 20 cm. It becomes more difficult when the cords have been nibbled on, because these carry the most weight. If there are bites here, it is almost impossible to repair the hammock or hammock chair.
We usually estimate the repair time at two weeks. If we can finish it earlier, we will of course return your hammock to you immediately.
You're welcome! It is best if you send us a few pictures of the affected areas to office@chico.at. In this way we can roughly assess in advance whether it makes sense to repair the hammock or whether it is time for a new one. We will inform you of this by email. You will also receive information from us regarding costs and repairs.
As with so many things in life, it is a bit up to you how long your hammock will accompany you. Take good care of it and protect them from mice, squirrels and co. in winter. If you need spare parts, please take a look at our service area. If you take good care of them, then we guarantee you: You will hardly be able to wait for the first rays of spring sunshine when it's finally time for your favorite spot again. Outside in the sun. And with your hammock.
